Thank you for following up and communicating with some who knew Aaron and other members of our armed forces who also object to our government's complicity and active support of genocide.

Watching the actual video was horrific, but witnessing a secret service man level a gun on a burning man who'd already collapsed and lost consciousness illustrated just how collectively fucked up this nation truly has become.

I am past fear. Past disgust. Past anger. And I am starting to believe that anyone who would react to an act of self sacrifice as political protest like this by ignoring it or in belting out propagandistic talking points shows that moral turpitude unilaterally Trump any humanitarian values that once were the basis of human civilization.

Aaron Bushnell was leaving a firey "wake up" call for America.

Two hours before he committed the 'ultimate act of protest" at around 1 p.m. Sunday, Bushnell posted a final message on Facebook.

“Many of us like to ask ourselves, ‘What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?’ The answer is, you’re doing it. Right now.”

Bushnell's last words were a challenge to every American who refuses to condemn the Israel/US genocide in Gaza.

What he really was saying was "[I] will no longer be complicit in genocide, [America]. Will you?"

It was NOT a rhetorical question.

Thank you for this post. I knew Aaron from basic training and I myself got out as a conscientious objector in July. Please contact me if you’re able, there’s a contact form on my website which is just levipierpont.com.

Solace. Thank you. It is so hard to wake the sleeping babies of relatives and acquaintances who still adhere to mainstream news, cdc reporrts, updates that are not real. Bless you. Bless Palestinians. May we help. Stop the oppressors. Stop our genocides.

Wake the sleeping babes, gently. But let rhem know there is also support, holding the truths. Wipung tears, hearing anguish. Moving to stop horrors.

Good article. Some of the things you said at the end got Emma Goldman deported.

Mr. Prysner,

I have long followed your work, and your collaboration with Abby Martin. The authenticity and a core strength of any pro-peace/anti-war movement comes from active or former military personnel and their families. You are a shining example of this.

Thank you for this article in honor of Bushnell. I have added it to my own small response to his defiant act of "Love, Agency & Courage". I hope that others who find themselves caught in a moral vice similar to that in which Bushnell found himself follow your advice and instructions. It is a tragedy to lose a person of Bushnell's courage, morality and awareness.
